Porto Cale de Medici

7 July, we set off a bit late, and the winds weren't as predicted, they were only up to 8kts, even so, we managed to get up to 7kts. We were all impressed with Porto di Pisa marina, they are very fairly priced and ideally suited, there is a nice town with lots of bars and restaurants, a bus every 30 minutes to Pisa.

Farewell Porto di Pisa Marina
The winds soon died down to 6-7 kts so our speed died down after four hours we called it a day and called in at Porto Cale De Medici, a new marina with good facilities. Our plan at the start of the day, was to proceed on to Elba on the 8th. However, the forecast was for the winds to pick up. That and the fact that Piombino, is not the best transit hub, it made sense for Colin and Sabrina to head out. So we went out for dinner and this was the view as we went to the restaurant.

On the Morning of the 8th Colin and Sabrina packed up and were off to Rome to spend a few days exploring, before heading back to Toronto on Sunday. It was a pleasure having them on board, I hope they enjoyed it. Come back any time...

After they left, I did some admin, cleaned up the boat and went for a bike ride, to Rosignano Maritimo. An old medieval town, it looked nice from far, but after a good ride (nice hills) I got there and there wasn't much to see.. The Castle is now a block of residences.. So I headed back to the boat to finish off the blog. The plan is to set off tomorrow early and see how far I can get. The next stop is Rome.

Interesting name..
