Delaware Bay

Georgetown to Delaware bay - 18 June

44NM

We set off from Georgetown at 10h30, to make sure we caught the tide exiting the C&D canal (it can get up to 4kts). There was no wind and the initial part of the journey we had the tide against us, which was a bit annoying, but much better fighting 1kt of current than 4 ;-).. We got to the top of  Chesapeak bay and entered the canal, just as the tide was turning and we were soon being rewarded for our earlier penance... It was quite a nice ride, a bunch of bridges we passed under, which were quite nice, much like being in a cathedral..

Leaving Georgetownn
About to enter the C&D Canal.. One of the many bridges we were to pass under, with Nordic Belle leading..

 Chesapeake City..

Leaving the Canal and entering the Delaware river..

We left the C&D canal and were in the Delaware - with the wind on the nose and a bit of current in our favour, which would shortly be turning..  We  continued our trip down the river and shortly before sunset, we anchored off a power plant..

Nordic Belle basking in the rising moon..  With the sun clocking off..

After a good Night's rest we were off, to New York
